3rd Dan Black Belt

Alistair first started practicing karate from 1982 to 1985. A this point he tried several other styles of martial arts. (Iaido, Shotokan Karate and Tai Chi.) It was in 1991 that he joined Mushin Karate Academy (Now Dai Ichi Kai) under Graeme Muirhead and started to practise seriously. In 1992 he started to help with instructing within the club and achieved his 1st Dan in 1996. It was then that he started to run his own clubs with the encouragement of Graeme. Eighteen months after gaining his 1st Dan he went on to achieve 2nd Dan. In 2007 he achieved his current grade of 3rd Dan.

When not practicing and instructing he still likes to occasionally experiment with other styles and has looked at Jiu Jitsu and Aikido. When not involved with martial arts he enjoys motor sport and fencing. Alistair holds both a BA and an LLM in Law and although not employed in the legal field still has an interest in criminology, human rights and race relations.
