Mika started karate in Kuusamo in 1992. After approximately two years of practice, he stopped training whilst in the army and then studied in the city of Oulu. His spark to practice again was reignited in 2001 when Oulun Karate-Do Shotokai held its very first beginner's course.
Mika moved to southern Finland in 2006 and in 2010 founded his own club in Vantaa, with a desire to focus on Shoto Budo. This was repeatedly and gratefully encouraged by Billy Haggerty.
In addition to karate, Mika has experience some aikido and judo.
